Runway 2 Real way.

"Fashion shows are based on a conceptual idea. The way that we see the piece on the runway is styled to project that ideal. The key to wearing a runway piece is to take it out of context. Make it your own by mixing it with old favorites or simple everyday basics." - Erin Wasson

I've never been to a fashion before but it is my #1 dream one day to be able to go to New York fashion week!  I have looked at many pictures from shows and watched clips online from different shows, keeping up on what is going to be hot for the next seasons. And I keep bookmarked all the pages in all my fashion magazines.
Have you ever found your self looking through Vogue, Elle or Harper's Bazaar and thinking how do I take this high fashion runway look and make it work for me everyday?  Why can't they just make the outfits more realistic for a real woman to wear.   At the end of the day its important to remember that a runway shows and even in the  fashion magazines they are trying to come across with a concept. So I thought it would be super helpful to give a few tips of how to read fashion.

So we all want to be fully fluent in the language of Fashion, to be able to speak Fashion with a perfect accent. Fashion is actually super easy to translate if you know how to observe the various looks and notice key themes.  You will be able to transform high fashion runway into what works for you for your personal style.

Breaking down the Basics
Runway to REAL WAY checklist.

1.  Color~ the first easiest rule to find in a collection is the color palette.  Are there lots of neutrals? Neon? Black? Pastels? Brights? Metallic? Primary colors? Shades of gray?
2. Fabrics~ Looks at the fabric the designer has chosen.   A few material/Fabrics are: tweed, leather, silk, lace, sequins, spandex, velvet, felt, wool, line, brocade, flannel and denim.
3. Prints + Patterns~ Sometimes all you have to do is channel a runway look is to get a great piece in the "it" print or pattern. Trendy prints and patterns are : animal, polka dots, stripes, plaid, art-inspired, floral, checks, or batik.
4. Accessories~  The easiest part of making an outfit is what you can add too it! Looking at what the designer has put with the outfit and finding what pieces you have that are similar.  Including hats ( bowler, newsboy cap, boater, fedora or beanie.) belts( skinny, thick)  jewelry( fine, costume, over sized, ethnic) handbags ( clutches, framed, hobos, totes) shoes (boots, flats, pumps, platforms, wedges, sandals) or scarf (little, long, lightweight, over sized, circular)
5. Themes~ Designers love to mine previous eras for fashion ideas, so try and see if their collection references any important styles.

Sweater Weather at City Creek

There no better way to spend a chilly fall day than shopping at City Creek Center in Salt Lake City.
Its my favorite place to spend my weekend days.  All the best shops + restaurants in town.
This is my favorite time of year all the beautiful colors and the crisp smell in the air. It is the best season for dressing because it is not to cold so you dont need layers on layers to keep warm, but still be warm and cute in whatever outfit you pick. I love all the options of  sweaters, scarfs, hats + boots.  Here is an idea for a casual chic idea for a perfect fall outfit.

"The Hunt" is over!!!

We are all obsessed with Pinterest! I have found myself lost for hours in the pages and pages of wonderful things I find and pin onto my many boards.  Creating outfits, hair ideas, makeup + so much more. You know that excitement when you find that outfit that you absolutely would die if you don't own that ASAP! Then you go to click on the site and it takes you either to a tumbler page or just a photo.... We've all been there... Lost in cyberspace unable to find out where you can buy that amazing dress or shirt or shoes.  Our outfits we pin in our internet closet stay on the shelf for life because we don't know how to get them from Pin to REAL and out the door and looking fabulous.  This has stumped me at times and left me saddened because I want all the clothes in the world in my closet.

But Ladies (and Gents too) cry no more because I want to share with you a wonderful site that I have recently come across.  That will solve all those fashion tears. The site is called The Hunt.  This website was created to help fashionista's find the items they covet and don't know where to find them.  How it works is simple you start your own "Hunt" by posting a picture of what ever item you want to find with a small description.  Maybe you want this exact item or something similar or for less money.  You post the item and TADAH! let the hunt begin.  Others on the site can alert you if they know of a site or place you can purchase what you want. And you can do the same for others.

It has become my new obsession and I get on daily on my downtime.   finding new things I want to find and or seeing what things people have found or looking for.  Its fun, validating, rewarding, and challenging.  You should defiantly try this site out if you interested in hunting down what you really want getting you one step closer to perfecting that perfect outfit or what ever you desire.  I've added a link below that will take you directly to their site and you can start Hunting away!!

I hope you enjoy and love "The Hunt".  XOXO
